About the artist:

Mia Oberländer was born in Ulm in 1995 and lived in Kassel and Valencia before moving to Hamburg in 2015 to study illustration with Anke Feuchtenberger, specialising in graphic storytelling. Her debut graphic novel «Anna» (Edition Moderne) was awarded the renowned Berthold Leibinger Comic Prize and a youth literature prize. It has been translated into several languages. Her second graphic novel «Saloon» will be published this fall. Oberländer’s work has appeared in publications such as the German edition of Le Monde diplomatique, the French daily Libération, and The New York Times. She also teaches occasionally at various universities, most recently at HAW Hamburg, and has been part of the Hamburg Comic Festival team since 2019.
